– Memories

missing my ma n pa

Mother dear I feel you in my heart

your laughter and your tone

as you stand in the kitchen and bake some cakes

and for a walk with the dog we often take

a stroll I remember in the evening with my father

at Christmas time, just a bit magical…

would peep at the houses with their décor

and judge which one was the best

these fond memories hold dear to me

as Trixie the dog would sniff and pull

and the summer to sit in the garden round the paddling pool

with feet in it to keep them cool

with aunts and cousins

and fond laughter

happy days

we sought after…

memories come back to me now your gone

the time passes so we dont realise how fast

rushing round the garden on my new bike

and falling in the rose bush, the blood the pain

and you dad just said get up on that bike again!

a big fish tank you bought for me

with lovely coloured fish

the peace it brought just to watch them there

I had no care

and the guitar you brought home too

a Spanish song you played

Id go up and down on my roller skates

before tea

waiting for you to come home from work to me

the only thing that matters was our family

no social media

no sign of a twitter

no whats app too

we had each other and that would do

no silly photos being sent

or daft messages without consent

simple lives just pure and happy together

sometimes you felt it would last for ever

but time takes its toll and to dust we must return

one day

I miss you both is all I have to say

thank you for the good life you gave to me

your caring commitment will always be

the most important thing that I can say

has happened to me to this day

I became interested in poetry about a year ago and try to write about things from my heart that are associated with events in my life or events going on in the World at large or closer to home. I am a visual artist and still am to a certain extent having exhibited some of my work as a visually impaired artist using sponges to paint. I have lost most of my eyesight in recent years to advanced glaucoma and my vision is now very limited I am finding my creativity now evolving in writing poetry and hope to publish my own book of verse in the future. I have a blog page on Wordpress where I share my poetry, art, photography, thoughts and favourite quotes and prayers at
