Best Times

lazy hew of light tempered through the mist

An early Spring morning it is

As the day is dawning

A lovely fresh smell with a hint of summer

The days past fill my mind

Of my children playing in the garden

Before my life began to harden …

Sunny laughter

Happy times

Both of my children

And of mine

The best days of my life were they

To have no worries

Be happy day by day

But time rushes by

It’s our only enemy it’s true

And as the days takes on another hue

Life changes

There is an awful twist

As in this mist

I must uncurl

So gradually it seems

When broken hearts reseal between

The tears and laughter that was there

If I dare to say

As I take on another day

And leave behind the sadness I must

And in the future I must trust

That my last days a comfort be

I never dreamed how this would be….

When I small child I chatted and played

Not a care in the World

when you are young

the time can be sweet

and so it was when my own children

at my feet

these days are memories dear

and as the darkness draws near

i remember it all with love

as time takes it toll

you are my only enemy

for sure

I became interested in poetry about a year ago and try to write about things from my heart that are associated with events in my life or events going on in the World at large or closer to home. I am a visual artist and still am to a certain extent having exhibited some of my work as a visually impaired artist using sponges to paint. I have lost most of my eyesight in recent years to advanced glaucoma and my vision is now very limited I am finding my creativity now evolving in writing poetry and hope to publish my own book of verse in the future. I have a blog page on Wordpress where I share my poetry, art, photography, thoughts and favourite quotes and prayers at
