a little gold chain around my neck

it holds a pendant with a pearl

this pearl on a delicate charm

it is so dear

i want you to hear

how prescious it is to me…

When but a child my father came home

he worked in London town

a big comute to BT

on the train he came home one day

i was always pleased when he was on his way

on my roller skates i would race

down the road

or by the gate

waiting for him

to appear

to me he was so dear

One day he came in

i was always pleased to see him home

One evening a he walked in

he said come here Molly what do you think?

(His nick name for me you see)

before we had our tea

a trinket box he opened wide

and how lovely inside

was this gold pearl necklace as said above

Now its mums birthday very soon you see

do you think she will like it he asked me

i think it will be just great for mum

i said most dearly with a skip and a hum!

she will adore it for sure

it was so lovely it was a must

he did so trust

what his little girl, (me!) did have to say!

Now mum died in 2015 so sad..

and Dad was also soon on his way

2016 all but a year

they were parted

and now in heaven they dance a waltz

together for ever

whilst i hold this treasure in my hand most dear

with a little tear

as i miss them lots of course

i wear this pedant with memories so fond and true

of my dear mum and dad i do miss you….

…both so much

and thank you for the happy days so spent

with me

and also my own family…

as a child my mum dad

so many happy times we had

And as gran and granddad it is true

with my children they were never blue

fun times we all had together

it seemed as if it would last forever

but this is not true of course

as time wends its weary way

eating all the time we treasure

without a thought or even measure

so ill hold this pendant to my heart

and yes i will have to start

to have a little tear

whilst i sit here

i remember dear Jean and Don my Ma and Pa

as from my thoughts you are never far……

I became interested in poetry about a year ago and try to write about things from my heart that are associated with events in my life or events going on in the World at large or closer to home. I am a visual artist and still am to a certain extent having exhibited some of my work as a visually impaired artist using sponges to paint. I have lost most of my eyesight in recent years to advanced glaucoma and my vision is now very limited I am finding my creativity now evolving in writing poetry and hope to publish my own book of verse in the future. I have a blog page on Wordpress where I share my poetry, art, photography, thoughts and favourite quotes and prayers at
